Breathing techniques and relaxation are very effective in controlling the symptoms of anxiety and panic. They will help to slow your heart rate down and to eventually get you out of a panic attack. Use the 7-11 breathing technique where you breathe in for 7 seconds, hold your breath for 1 second and then exhale slowly (through pursed lips if you have to ) for 11 seconds. This technique will literally stop your hyperventilation and force your heart rate down.
